Heather

Heather: I’m a 40 year old mom of four in my beautiful blended family. My girls are 12 and 14, I’ll refer to them as Big K and Little K on the blog.  I am a little neurotic about posting pics of the girls, so you’ll just have to take my word for it that they are beautiful and wonderful, and yes, I am biased.  I also have a 17 year old Stepson, but I hate the step titles, and a 22 year old stepdaughter.   You can always bet that there is at least one Disney count down clock on my phone, because I’m either planning for a trip, or, who am I kidding, I’m ALWAYS planning for a trip.  I may or may not have had an excel spreadsheet mapping out Disney trips for the next 20 years.  It has changed, but… it was a thing.

I am a DVC member, and love to tell you all about it, don’t ask unless you’ve got time to listen… a lot of time. But seriously though – DVC was one of the best things I have ever done.  I would LOVE to share the magic with you!  I have shared my love of Disney with my kids, step kids, and my wonderful DH (who surprised me with a trip to Disney for my 40th Birthday, but that’s another blog post). I love all things Disney, but Belle is my favorite princess and I great big puffy heart LOVE Tink! Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust!

I first went to Disney when I was 8 years old, before there was an EPCOT, or Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom.  I wish I could say I remember the magic of the place, but I honestly don’t.  All I really remember was being totally terrified of Space Mountain.  However, I went back in High School as part of the “Magic Music Days” program… and I fell in love.  Seriously.  Not like a school girl crush, I was home at WDW.  This place made sense to me.  I loved the simplicity of it.  I loved the encouragement to be a kid.  Our band performed at Epcot one year and at the earliest beginnings of Disney Springs another year.  I remember the awe with which I was allowed to go “backstage” to prep for the performance.  Through the door between Mexico and Norway if anyone cares.  I also remember not really playing much of the music, because I was just too in awe of the fact that I was part of the entertainment at EPCOT!!  Don’t worry, I wasn’t that good, no one missed my playing.  I fell in love with Disney, and have enormous memories of the trips and the people, and the opportunities I’m crazy thankful for.

Fastforward a few years… and I was able to take my daughters for the first time…  The magic and the love and adoration that I had, became bigger seeing it through the eyes of my babies.  I loved being able to take them in princess costume to meet their favorite princesses, eating dinner with the princesses on several occasions – and seeing them believe they were princesses too.  They have gotten older, and are less into the princess aspect (much to my disappointment), but they still love Disney almost as much as I do.  They have their favorite restaurants, their favorite rides, and very strong opinions about Disney!  Last year, I was lucky enough to marry my very own Prince Charming, and took him (for ALMOST the first time) and his son (for the very first time) to WDW.  Seeing them love it too threw a whole other layer of love for all things Disney on me.

So, random things you should know about me?  If you are still reading 🙂 Don’t get into a Disney trivia challenge with me – unless you are on my team.  I love watching Disney movies even if I can’t sucker my kids into watching with me.  I sing all the Disney songs, loudly.  I get pouty when people mention that OTHER park in Orlando, because why would you ever leave Disney??
